I have heard mixed things about how fasting affects men vs women. I have heard men experience a lot more of the benefits than women do, and that fasting can even be damaging for women. I’m trouble sorting out what is propaganda and what isn’t - Does anyone have any studies, articles, personal experiences that would be good to know?
My personal experience is that fasting is helpful (and I’m a woman).
It is harder in the week heading up to my period, and sometimes the first couple of days.
My weight loss is not as rapid as men of a similar size, age and activity level experience.
It’s absolutely doable, and a key part for anyone fasting is to try to listen to what their body is telling them. Most who are successful start slowly, ramp up gradually, and stop or moderate when they don’t feel well.
Best of luck!
