I’d come across an article a while ago from a woman who had been doing intermittent fasting and how it had messed up her hormones. I’ve noticed that I’ve been breaking out with acne a bit lately, although I haven’t gone beyond 24 hour fasts.
The impression I get from what data I can find on the subject is that men and women have to fast in different ways to see the benefits although I’ve also seen some claims that women shouldn’t fast at all.
I’m curious what others have heard about this or what their experiences are. As a woman, I want to reap positive benefits from IF but I’m also a bit envious of the gentlemen fasters in the data who seem to enjoy more benefits.
There’s a podcast called “The Fasting Method”. It’s hosted by Megan Ramos. They recently had a show about fasting for women. Apparently there are times in the monthly cycle that will make fasting easier or harder. I suggest giving it a listen to.
When you say you’ve been breaking out from acne, how long have you been fasting. It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks for your body to heal so you will see it go through some weird changes while it’s doing that, acne is pretty common.
