Fasting post covid?

Hi everyone,

is it safe to go on an intermittent fasting diet after recovering from covid. I tested negative today but I’m getting the post covid symptoms after a long day of errands. mostly cough, headache for a while and the feeling that i might catch a fever. Is it alright to go fast since I’m negative anyway?

Answer

I’m literally starting back today after over two weeks dealing with COVID. I passed my isolation date last week but still didn’t feel like I had the energy to get back to fasting. Listen to your body, get back to it when you feel like you should.

I’d treat your post-COVID symptoms like you would deal with the flu or a cold - wait a while while you recover and then get back to IF. So if you think eating/drinking something outside of your typical eating window is necessary, do it. No need for strict IF.

Once you feel like you’re over it, you can get back to your normal plan.

Answer

I came in here thinking, ridiculously optimistically, that the COVID pandemic was over for someone. ANYONE.

Now I’m just bummed again. Anyway, I’d get healthy, keep a close eye on yourself, just don’t overdo it till you’re better.
