For those about to break... something to try:

I’m at the end of day 4 here and unfortunately hit a wall with an amount of fatigue/insomnia that makes the weight loss not worth losing out in other areas of life.

Instead of breaking the fast directly into a full meal – I decided to try eating something high volume, low calorie & sodium filled instead, to see if it would make me feel good enough to carry on.

Fried up a 16oz costco pack of riced cauliflower and added 4 cups of Better Than Bouillon roasted chicken flavor to that in a huge bowl to make a super (not) gormet soup. A completely full stomach for a grand total of 120 calories.

I ended up getting the same euphoria & energy I would’ve from a big post-fast meal. Now that I’ve had this small (calorically) meal, I feel good enough to just carry on with the fast, which I was aiming to end NYE.

I’ve been consuming electrolytes/vitamins etc. up until this point, so I think there’s either a hormonal or mental effect at play here. Or the fiber may have slowed down the transit of the water/electrolytes and allowed for better absorption, as those have been running right through me.

I guess moral of the story is that rather than breaking a fast entirely all or nothing style, using a strategy similar to the above may be enough to get you over the hump at very little cost to the overall goal.

Great idea. Did you pan fry in some kind of oil? Seasonings? I like the idea of cauliflower but the taste/texture has always been an issue for me so would love some tips on overcoming that with cooking technique.
