Has anyone gained muscle while on IF?

I (26F) have a lot of body fat to lose but I also want to gain muscle. I’ve been doing strength training but haven’t been able to lose body fat, so I’m thinking of doing IF. But I feel like it could be counterintuitive as you need protein to build muscle and I’ve seen a few articles saying it may not be a good idea.

Any experiences appreciated

Answer

Yes. Recently, I got two body composition scans 6 weeks apart. 8lbs fat loss, 1lb muscle gained. FWIW, I’m female and have always struggled to build muscle so I feel like if I can do it, it’s generally possible.

Answer

female, 25, I have successfully managed a bodybuilding routine 6 days a week before. I only lift 3 days a week now and maintain+gain. I have been consistently doing IF for ~4 years to manage various chronic health issues. I dont do it to lose weight and have not gotten underweight by implementing IF as a permanent lifestyle change. Just be sure to eat enough within your window and stray away from doin goofy stuff like OMAD. On my period my window goes from 16:8 to 14:10 because metabolism speeds up, highly recommend that.

Answer

I believe the Rock occasionally does IF without concern because fasting releases hgh. Hgh production lowers with age but it appears to stimulate additional production on top of the normal decreased amount. There may be benefit to fasting in strength training but I don’t believe enough information exists to point to some official study

Answer

It can be done! I have lost weight and I still kept my muscle, even gain more to be honest. Everything is about habit so do you workouts when you need too!I do weight training, calisthenics and cardio throughout the week. Just be patient with it! Also having a meal balance plan also helps!
