So I guess we all know that constipation is a side effect of IF, but how long until my body adjusts and gets over it? I eat loads of fiber, drink tons of water, take magnesium citrate, and exercise. I’m doing 16:8.
it affects different people differently. I do 5:2 and find that it’s more the opposite problem when I reenter my feeding time. I have found that being super careful with what foods are eaten in the first two hours makes a real difference though. My only thought is Exercising really helps bowel movements.
Omg, i stopped because of it. After three weeks I couldn’t handle it anymore. I want to retry by starting 12:12, but I’m dreading it too, haha. I do have ibs, which may have something to do with it. For many ibs patients doing IF lessens their symptoms, and then for some it worsens.
Going to follow this thread, haha, because i want to know the answer to your question too
Edit: in the meantime though you can wait it out more easily perhaps by using something like iberolax. It’s not a laxative, it just, well, lubes up the ol’ log
Definitely had constipation the first week. Took everything mentioned above, but eventually my body has adjusted. I do find that a cup of coffee can be helpful to keep things moving. Also, like mentioned by someone else, I just don’t need to go everyday anymore now that the food volume is a lot less. I’m doing 18:6 since the beginning of the year.
Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. But also remember, sometimes you just don’t need to go. Going to IF changed my regular patterns significantly, but that doesn’t mean I’m constipated. In my eating whatever crap I wanted days, I went every morning at 6:30. Old reliable. Then, I started keto, and while the, um, volume, uh changed, the regularity was still there. Going to IF and further cutting my calories caused any notion of a schedule to go out the window. Some days, I just don’t go. And that’s okay.
Need more fat in your diet. I have half a stick a butter a day. You either have it in bullet coffee with you meal, or have it on the side of the plate and mix it with your food. I can actually it eat straight and treat it like salted ice cream. Some drink it by mixing butter with hot water even.
