How to Break a Long Water Only Fast

I’m about to start day 17 of what will be a 20-day fast. I ended the fast this Friday and begin refeeding on Saturday.

I’ve watched a lot of Dr Fung’s videos on how to break a fast, and I’m a little concerned about what foods to choose.

I was thinking of just a couple of lightly fried eggs. I tend to not have any problems with eggs in general. I also have some bone broth and some ground beef.

Does anyone have any tips or point to any guidelines?

Answer

I’d start with the broth and drop the eggs in it. I typically have little appetite for solids so work up slowly on things I can eat in small amounts. A fried egg getting cold does not sound super appealing! But do long as you don’t rush to finish a portion that is too large, you shouldn’t have to worry too much.

Answer

Along with what everyone else said, probiotics are important. Your gut flora is decimated right now, and will need to be repopulated. It will take days before you digestion is back to normal because of that.
