Intermittent fasting and atherosclerosis

I’ve read some studies done on mice about intermitted fasting (IF) and atherosclerosis. It seems not only it could prevent it, but maybe even reverse it. I didn’t find studies done on humans, but I was wondering if anyone could share more relevant studies on the subject, or anything meaningful.

I am also wondering what is the best type of IF for this result. I eat mosly OMAD like 5 days a week, with an average fasting time over 20 hours daily. But in the studies they fed the mice one day normally, and the other complete fasting. Was wondering if it would make a difference. Eating once a day is easy for me, but abstaining for food a whole day, even if it means eating ‘normally’ the next day, is much more difficult.

Anyone can relate?

Answer

Well, my cholesterol readings were much better when I did one 36 hour fast a week and ate all the other days. But the schedule I do now is more comfortable, I found the longer fast migraine trigger, and I weigh a little less with the daily pattern.

Anecdotal but my guess based on this is that it’s not just weight loss (I am at a healthy weight) but something about longer fasts in particular.
