Intermittent fasting intermittently

Hi there, new to the fasting game and have been doing 16:8 for a couple weeks now. I’m wondering if I should expect to see results if I’m only fasting around five days a week. I’ve basically been fasting whenever my schedule allows but if I have plans during the evening I typically skip it. Is five days a week enough to make a difference? I completely realize this is an issue of discipline but here we are.

Answer

I fast for help with calorie control and not necessarily actually going into ketosis so ymmv but I don’t fast on the weekends and I’ve been seeing results, about 50lbs in 6 months. Having those social meals is more important to me that losing weight faster (if I wanted to loose faster I’d add more exercise 😅). I try to keep at my bmr/cico calorie count during the weekends but that’s it. I don’t have trouble going from the weekend to a 19:5 on monday, but that kind of routine switching is very individual.

I’d say try it and if doesn’t work out the way you want then you know days off aren’t for you and you can plan moving forward.

Everyone’s different and ymmv. But honestly I don’t think you’ll see noticeable results without more consistency and/or longer fasts, especially if “plans in the evening” involves eating and drinking late into the night.
