intermittent fasting while breastfeeding

Hi fasters, Would like to start IF again now I’m 3 months post partum but don’t want it to affect my milk supply, which is on the low side already (due to IGT). I have googled but would really appreciate some first hand accounts/advice, especially from anyone who also had low supply. Thanks very much!

Answer

It will lower supply. I didn’t start IF until 2 years PP. I’m still nursing but I think she does it mostly for comfort now. I barely make anything. Imo 3 months PP is too early to start IF if you want to continue to breastfeed exclusively

Answer

No one. No doctor. No one recommends IF while breastfeeding. Even if you don’t tank your supply, your body will get the nutrients from your bones.

This isn’t a time to f around and find out.

Take care of your body. Take care of your baby.

Fast later.

Today is my first day i did 14:10 i am exclusively breastfeeding my 6 months old. I drink lots of water and aiming for cutting off carbs nothing extreme I did 20:4 before getting pregnant it worked perfectly,I hope this will work.

Answer

I would wait until after 1 year of breastfeeding to start IF unless you’re prepared to use formula. (Currently breastfeeding toddler)

Focus on eating clean! A lot of babies increase their milk intake around 3-4 months and will be naturally trying to increase your milk supply (feeding frenzies), and you might notice your appetite increase - and for good reason! Have tasty fruit smoothies with nut butters, eat sweet potatoes, overnight oats, nourishing foods! Roast chicken! Increase veggies!

ETA: continue your prenatal!
