International organic regulations

I just opened a pack of (suitably overpriced) organic pasta and noted on the label that it was made in Bolivia.

With all due respect to the fine regulators of Bolivia, what sort of rigour is there on internationally manufactured products that claim to be organic?

Answer

I’ve wondered this many times myself. I think that’s why they say that one out of three items labeled organic are not actually organic. It’s down to who’s watching the watchers. I guess there’s not enough time in the day to research every item you consume. Just try to make the most educated decision you can and Google everything, including ingredients.
