If you feel like your friend is doing this as a result of mental illness or disordered eating, then it would be a good idea to dissuade him from taking on a fast like that. Especially if he isn’t experienced at extended fasting and has not prepared himself for it.
It’s also good to keep in mind that sometimes people who have mental health concerns act in self-destructive ways and that you have no control over that. I’m not saying this is the case because I obviously don’t have all the information necessary to make that call, but it’s good to be aware of.
