New to intermittent fasting

Hi I’m new to intermittent fasting and just wanted to ask a few questions. Just some background information: I’m a 26F, 5’0 (approx 153cm) and 97lbs (44kg)

I’m trying to lose fat around my body in general and I’m planning to do the 16:8 fasting

Do you think intermittent fasting will work for me as I’m looking to get lean and not necessarily lose weight.

Thank you! :-)

I agree with the folks suggesting weight training. I’m not a doctor; however, based on research I’ve done in the past I’m not sure how healthy weight loss would be for you. At a minimum I would consult a doctor first.

I tend to agree with @knacks74

You’re already seemingly smaller in stature…. weight training would probably be a better fit for you and help you with faster, more noticable, results.

I started IF 3 years ago when I was 265 and weight training. Currently 217 from IF and weight training 5x per week. As you can see, I had a lot more wiggle room for IF LOL!

Answer

imo, do not start fasting. Anyone under 100 pounds shouldn’t lose more weight, and do not eat less calories. As others said, exercise, and once you’re exercising a fair amount try to eat more even so that it can fuel the exercise and help you even more. To burn belly fat cardio is great but not easy to get into for beginners. I use Ring Fit Adventure for the Switch but it’s expensive (especially if you need to buy the Switch too).
