Problem sleeping cause ?

I did a 36 hour fast just drinking water.I could not sleep at all I didn’t feel physically weak like I felt fine but that lack of sleep was terrible.I was eating a lot of sugar leading up to the fast and in general, could this be the cause of my inability to fall asleep or something else ? I want to to make it a habit of doing it more but I can’t not sleep when I have responsibilities.

Answer

Sleep problems happen, usually 2nd and 3rd day. Hold on a bit, it will subside.
Your body is depleting its sugar reserves. Drastically shifting to keto is tough.
If you want to avoid sleeping problems, then start slowly. First five days, reduce sugar in the diet, reduce calorie intake, then reduce carbohydrates and shift to proteins. Then start a fast.
Don’t jump on a fast so soon.

Answer

I too had problems last night, after 58h. I also have a carb based diet normally.

I was super awake and that never happens. I broke the fast in the morning with carbs and now I’m very tired and feeling very full.

I did a lot of water fasts before but that’s the first time this problem happens.

Maybe you could time it so it happens on weekends ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Answer

About 36-48h mark I get these too, I feel very energetic and capable like I can take on the world lol. Ease on the caffeine and it’ll pass after that time period. I find myself to be very productive during that time period so I manage my fasts to hit that time during daytime instead of night. Make the most out of your free speed :p
