Question About Red Wine

Ive just started IF. I’ve been building up to it but only committed a few days ago. I’m doing 18:6 for now.

Maybe I’m still stuck in Atkins mode, but I’ve read that a glass of wine during my (for now) six-hour window is fine. In case it makes a difference, I’m referring to Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir specifically. I drink one cup of black coffee at noon and water the rest of the day, sometimes mixing some water with white vinegar while fasting. Will a glass of red wine with my second meal throw me off? As for foods I’m eating, I’m focusing on non starchy veggies, greens, walnuts and pecans, avacados, eggs, and sausage, chicken and occasionally beef where meat is concerned. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Answer

For IF it would be perfectly fine as long as you are accounting for it in your calorie budget. I can’t speak to if it is okay on Atkins as I do t know the principles of that diet. But for simple weight loss it is just a matter of eating in a calorie deficit, so no problems on the wine.
