Rash almost a month post fast

I did a 9 day fast back in early jan (2nd to 11th) and was mostly fine, a bit tired but that was probably because I wasn’t taking in enough electrolytes. I’m now eating at a balanced diet at healthy calorie deficit, eating around 1900 calories a day, and haven’t fasted since then.

About a week after I stopped fasting, I started developing a rash on my forehead. I thought it might be from a new cream I’ve been using, and it went away a few days after I stopped using the cream. But about a week after it went away, I started developing a rash again and it’s all over my face this time instead of just my forehead. Still eating normally, not using any new skincare products. The rash isn’t itchy or painful, or red (though I’m black so that probably why). It’s just dry and flaky, and it’s making me feel insecure about my skin.

Is this normal? Should I try to see my GP or just wait it out?

Answer

I haven’t had anything quite as severe that lasted for such a long time. But I also get “symptoms” after extended fasts that usually come on a day or 2 after I start to eat.

It seems that my fat cells store a lot of toxins (oxalates, PUFA) and they get released when I do extended fasts in large amounts. Check out Sally Norton’s work.
