Should I count calories with intermittent fasting ?

I’ve tried so many diets that usually help me shed around 10 lbs but I always have a hard time sticking to them . I detest calorie counting , I actually have a pretty healthy diet due to my IBS which restricts so many high carb ,high calorie foods and snacks . I do eat gluten though, but no dairy and minimal sugars .

I’ve done intermittent fasting in the past but I find it slow . I can actually stick to it though , because I generally never want to eat breakfast . It’s dinner time that will give me a problem . So , can I still lose weight just adhering to eating during the 8 hours OR do I have to count calories too?

Answer

Focus on what you eat more than the number of calories. Don’t eat processed foods with high refined carbs and high transfats. Over time your body will figure out the right amount to eat as your hormones adjust to IF.

Answer

You will need to count calories because if you consistently over-shoot your calorie needs during your eating window, over time that will make you gain weight.

I count but I don’t fret if once and a great while I eat above my target, I just know I need to be more mindful the next day.

Answer

Calorie counting is always necessary until your appetite adjusts to smaller portions, if it would fit into your lifestyle consider trying OMAD. Only CC once a day (you will soon just approximate) made my relationship with food substantially better and let me drop 75lbs to a reasonable weight, Good luck!

Also don’t forget to have cheat days, during my weight loss period, 3-5lbs a week, I would cheat once every ~6 weeks and be astonished I wasn’t even hungry the following day.
