Stalled out - at 16:8 - go to OMAD?

Going back to IF has been really good. Lost 20 lbs and a couple of BMI points. A1C is down significantly. Fitting in clothes I haven’t worn since Covid began, etc. I feel a lot better.

Last couple of weeks, I kind of stalled out. Eating normally in feed window. Haven’t put on any weight, but not losing any either - just kind of going back and forth between 176 and 178. 16:8 is kind of the minimum - usually 16:8 or 18:6.

Thinking of going to 20:4 or OMAD to kick it back into higher gear. 16:8 is kind of effortless to me - doesn’t really require much discipline. 18:6 is a little tougher, there are stretches mid-day when hunger kicks in. More than that, and I imagine food will be on my mind a lot in the afternoon.

The other option is throwing in a 36 hour fast once a week.

Slow n steady wins the race, if you can’t do it for the rest of your life, what’s the point. I am 41 and will be doing 16/8 for the rest of my life. Having packed on 30lbs in 3 years I now know I need longevity and a lifestyle change..

Answer

Sure, try OMAD and see how it goes.

You could also take a look at what you’re eating during the 8 or 6 hour window. Cut out the processed stuff and switch to whole foods if that’s the issue. Or—cut back on the carbs and increase your fat intake. There’s usually something to adjust!
