Too much omega 3 to 6

What happens if a person regularly eats more omega 3 then omega 6? I know a preferred ratio of 1:1 but what happens if it goes too far the other way.

For example if chronometer says 7.1g of omega 3 to 6.1g of omega 6. I know these aren’t that far off 1:1 but what if its more and for a prolonged time.

Answer

I think what most people are missing is that having more Onega 3 than 6 is virtually impossible unless your only fat source is supplements high in omega 3. Even the highest omega 3 natural sources (fatty fish, flax, chia, hemp, walnut) typically have more omega 6 than 3, or if they do have more 3, the amount is neglible compared to the omega 6 available in other parts of your diet. Don’t worry about this. Just aim to get more Omega 3 rich foods in general.

Answer

I thought the preferred ratio was 3-4 omega 3 to omega 6. Even then, if you’re getting more than that but using plant based omega 3’s the ALA to EPA conversion isn’t know. I wouldn’t worry about too much omega 3 unless you’re chugging cod liver oil.

Answer

Refined oils cause a higher ratio of omega 6 to omega 3s from what I understand, which can lead to inflammation and other symptoms. Some people have mentioned loose stools/cramping for omega 3 toxicities and have heard that as well.
