Answer

hey there,

I am not sure how you felt as you wrote this post. Are you asking in a neurotic way, and if I tell you there is a lot more to think about when it comes to bread, and toasted bread, will you vow to never eat bread again?

Or are you asking because you have critical thinking, and you want to ensure you have a decent understanding of what you are putting into your body?

I over analyze, so here is the simple answer first. In my opinion. No big deal, enjoy your bread as you see fit. are there more healthier ways to get your oils? Yes. however 2g of fat for bread im gona smother in more fat is null and void.

So we can zoom closer into the bread and assess if having 1g of fat per slice is something to worry about. If your chosen daily intake of fat is 20g, or 180kcals having two slices of bread will provide you with roughly 2g of fat which adds up to 18kcals.You can then do your research and decide if palm, or any other vegetable oil belongs in your body, or something you want to pay for.

Other things to consider are, preservatives such as calcium propionate, and emulsifiers such as e471.It could turn out you have a slight immune response to bakers yeast producing chronic low grade inflammation.

You could then turn your focus onto the carbs, do you value refined carbs? while brown bread has more fiber which slows down glucose absorption, could you not spend your calories more wisely and eat a meal with brown rice, which will be more sating and have a lower GI?

*You will also have to consider heating sugars and proteins, toasting bread produces cancer promoting molecules called acrylamides. will it kill you today? No. Will it be the thing that pushed you over the edge of a cancer diagnosis? Lord have mercy, I have no idea.

We can now zoom out and think about what you will eat with the bread, some peanut butter will have way more fat, but could produce a yummy after gym snack like brown bread, pb, and banana. and if you deserved it a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

or you could have a tablespoon of Nutella, jam packed with yummy in your tummy calories, and preservatives too.

I wish you all the best, stay safe.
