I just moved to 18:6 7 days a week and am currently doing dry January. I have a birthday party that I can’t miss towards the end of this month.
What do you do when you go out but don’t want to break your fast? I know I can stick with water, but I’m hoping there are other options that are more “fun”.
Can you move your window to be around the event. Maybe a longer fast the day before, or the next day. Trust me, it’s a lot more annoying to be “that guy” than be a stickler for If.
Move your windows around, or say screw it and resume the next day.
If you decide you don’t want to break your fast or shift your eating window to align with the event, then club soda & a squeeze of fresh lime is more interesting than plain water at least. Plus it kinda looks like a cocktail, especially if they put it in a rocks glass. And a tiny amount of lime juice (not bar lime) isn’t likely to interfere with anything.
If it’s just a party with drinks, I’ll usually have sparkling water on ice with a slice of lemon. Kinda looks like a gin tonic, feels good.
If it’s more of a dinner, I’ll usually just shift my window. When I had my longest and most succesfull IF routine, I actually would relax my schedule on weekends to be able to go out more easily.
Stay strong!! Enjoy the people not the food. Give yourself some sort of game like having to learn everyone’s name if that helps. Idk just think about how much IF progress means to u and decide whether to stay strong or not based on that
