I don’t have a car so I go grocery shopping multiple times a week and I’ve always heard you shouldn’t go when you’re hungry so I’m wondering how you guys manage it with fasting?
Do you go when you’re in the middle of a fast or when you’re about to break it or after you’ve already eaten?
I’ve been doing adf for about two weeks now and so far I feel like it’s easier to make better choices if I go on a fasting day because I know I can’t eat whatever I’m buying anyway. If I go on an eating day (no matter if I’ve already eaten or not) I feel more tempted to buy snacks because I know I can actually eat them right away.
Just curious how it works for other ppl and with different fasting windows.
I like to go grocery shopping after Ive had a meal cause when Im hungry and shopping it can greatly influence me to buy other things especially if I dont bring a shopping list regardless if its three things or 20 things.
I typically shop during my fast but I’ve found that planning out my list and shopping only from that helps me to stick to my plan. That said, I shop at Aldi so there’s no hot food sections and way less temptations than a larger supermarket.
The “don’t go grocery shopping when you are hungry” isn’t like a legit rule to live by, the idea is just that you probably don’t have the best self control against buying junk or just buying too much food because you are craving more. But if you are truly sticking to IF, you are probably already making great strides in conquering self control. Maybe then shopping in a state of hunger is another great exercise in itself? Like, prove to yourself that you can shop hungry and still make good choices. I don’t know, the idea just came to me while writing this 😂
