Stevia, insulin and fasting.

There’s a lot of conflicting and non-conclusive info out there about the effects of Stevia on fasting and insulin response. Let’s assume it does indeed trigger an insulin spike in all people. What I’m trying to understand is, if my last meal was at 7pm and I’m having coffee with stevia in it at 7am (12 hours fasted) and will not be eating any calories until 1pm (6 hours later), if it does spike insulin but I’m in a fasted state how would that impact weight loss? I’m assuming my insulin will have decreased by the time I eat?

Answer

Personally I would not recommend doing that. Fasting is not a great idea if you are having spikes in you BG.

It would put a lot of stress on your body.

And that is never a good idea.

I fast from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. so I really don’t have a problem with that.

However? I also think it’s bad to go that long without food if you’re a diabetic especially. Have you talked about that with your doctor? How do they feel about that?
