Been 30 days since i came back to fasting and i am gaining weight? more context

I gained around 5 lbs in 30 days of fasting, but my waist circumference didn’t change at all, so that’s that.

I used to workout allot , stopped for 2 months to recover from surgery in my jaw, came back a month ago not what i used to lift but close.

I fast 16/8 and eat at a small deficit around 150 cals per day.

What worries me is that i am gaining weight !

Any analysis on the subject? I might be hording more water, or is it that detrained muscle gain. I don’t know, but i might even reduce my food or increase my fasting hours.

Any help is appreciated

Answer

Make sure your calorie intake is correct for your activity level. If not, then that deficit may not be what you think it is. You might also want to check to be sure there’s no medical/hormone issue that’s at play here. But it’s most likely your calorie count.

Answer

Weigh yourself daily, at the same time each day preferably in the morning. Take your weekly average and compare that, if you are gaining then you are not in a deficit so if that is your goal then eat less. Make small adjustments, maybe decrease 2-300 kcal more and compare in 1-2 weeks again.
