Best probiotics to take after a course of antibiotics?

Antibiotics tend to wreak havoc on the gut microbiome and I was wondering what the best probiotics are to use after a course of antibiotics are done. I understand most of the time the recommendation is that probiotic pills are rather unnecessary since most people already have fairly healthy gut microbiomes and if they didn’t, a small pill wouldn’t make much of a difference, but considering that an antibiotic like doxycycline can destroy a lot of the bacteria in the gut, would pills be a good option? Or would it be better to stick to traditional probiotics like yogurt?

Currently taking S. Boulardii after being diagnosed with 2 viruses, 3 parasitic infections and C difficle all at the same time.

I stopped antibiotics (10 day metronidazole 2.2g/day) two days ago and I’ve had the first solid poops in almost a month now, highly reccommend.

Antibiotics don’t kill Boulardii as it is technically a yeast and is very good to combat diarrhea, whatever the cause, inc. Post antibiotic diarrhea.

Yogurt and inulin (a prebiotic). Also fresh fruit/veggies uncooked like apples peaches (eat the core!) and root vegetables. Realize the bacteria in yogurt thrive best on milk (duh) so feed the with some milk. But the muicrobiome is more complex so eat lots of things. I don’t recommend supplements…

There are lots of good ideas here. As an herbalist I’ve found formulas and substances that treat infections better than antibiotics with less side effects. We just avoid the antibiotics entirely

But we’re in the minority. Most people love drugs and surgery It’s like a religion
