Does anybody have any experience with (Intermitting) Fasting in combination with power trainning?

Hey, i’m not really new to fasting, i have done intermittent fasting and OMAD before. But not strictly, just to get a little bit more in to shape and feel a bit fresher around the summer. The thing is i did not have a problem with fasting for one day and then go one a little run ( 10 Km). But I have been going to the gym recently ( around 2months) I have gained a bit weight because I am hungry all the time and eat WAY to much but my friends tell me it’s normal because its bulking season.

Long story shor: how do i lose weight by fasting and still be able to perform in the gym by doing high intensive power training? Because when you train a lot and build muscle your body needs all the proteine and nutrients right??

Thank you all!!

Answer

Having super high intensity with weight lifting can be tough with fasting. My best recommendation would be to focus your eating around workout times. Eating before the gym is going to fuel you more, but if you are doing one giant meal you may need to time that as you don’t want to be overly full lifting. For example, I used to eat a big meal at night, then lift in the morning and I felt fueled that way. Or you could try supplementing with a carbohydrate powder before the gym.

Answer

Nope, no problem whatsoever with weight lifting. However, from my experience - cardio is a different story.Fasting has been reported to cause heart rate variability in some individuals.I find it extremely difficult to stay within a 120 bpm to 160 bpm when jogging.I am either above 170 or below 110 (which is not cardio). When I am fed, this is not the case.Ymmv
