If i fry bacon without oil and then drain it on a piece of paper would the calories be less because a lot of the grease is gone or is that taken into account on the nutrition facts?
I’ve always wondered the same, I just do the whatever the standard cals on the package are per piece and if it is less I guess I save a few cals.
I cook my bacon on a rack and tray in the oven so all the grease is not there
US food labels for meat are for raw weight so yes the calories are including the fat (grease). When you cook it the solid fat turns into a liquid which ends up being the grease that you see.
To answer your question, yes the calories per slice would be less since you aren’t consuming all of the fat and it’s going onto the paper towel. However, I wouldn’t try to subtract it out since it would be difficult to calculate and there’s nothing wrong with netting less calories at the end of the day.
