I tried following this air fryer carrot fries recipe. I mixed one garlic clove with a little canola oil (didn’t have olive), coated the carrots in that, seasoned with salt, black pepper, and a little garlic powder, and added some shredded parmesan cheese.
They were okay, but the air fryer really brought out the sweetness in the carrots, which wasn’t what I was looking for. Any suggestions for how to make them more savory/salty?
High temperature cooking of carrots will always caramelize the sugars in them leading to that sweetness.
Sweet potato is much less of a problem if you are looking for a healthier potato sub, sweet potatoes are almost as good as carrots nutritionally.
