Are sweet potato fries healthier than regular french fries?

For arguments sake, I’m referring to frozen bags only cooked in the air fryer, so no added oil. Is there a reason why one should opt towards sweet potato fries rather than regular?

Edit to elaborate: is there a difference in the sugar structure that would make a difference in blood sugar levels? Or is it so, a starch is a starch is a starch?

Answer

Sweet potato fries need to be coated in flour in order to make them crispy. The flour increases the calories and glycemic index. Whereas regular potato fries don’t need flour to make them crispy. It’s too bad because I really love the Costco sweet potato fries but I think I’ll have to reduce my intake of them because of that.

Answer

I have found brands of each that better meet my dietary needs at the time. The labels have the nutrition, but you need to know what you are looking to add or avoid when comparing. There are several apps that track food that should allow you to compare at home so you are informed at the freezer section.

Answer

No one is healthier than the other it’s just a different kind of potato.

I notice that sweet potato fries are usually breaded or have something added to them to keep them crisp compared to regular potato fries.

Answer

I wouldn’t use the word healthy when it comes to fried potatoes unless you are a malnourished person in Africa. Something like “Which one is worse for your health?” sounds more accurate for a developed country.
