Day 9 of 40-Day Water Fast

New to this reddit, but I have been fasting for several years. My longest fast to date has been for 14-days. This year, I’m taking on my longest water fast ever, 40-days.

I am a 62 year old male, 5’-10” and I weighed 219.6 nine days ago. After age 40 I have always struggled with weight, getting up to 260 at my heaviest. Intermittent fasting withe the occasional longer fast has slowly brought the weight down by 40 lbs. Now I am ready for the big push to get down to an ideal weight for my height and frame. I’m hoping for 170-180.

My PCP is a good friend and I am keeping him in the loop via a shared daily log.

Mainly, I’m just introducing myself and looking for support. This is really extreme for most folks who don’t understand or get it. Including family and friends.

Just like you, I’m on day 9 of a water fast. The longest I’ve fasted in the past is also 14 days.

The hardest part for me is socially. I’m visiting parents this weekend and I’m sure they will not understand. Any suggestions on how to!deal with them?

It’s also going to be hard to resist my mom’s excellent home cooked meals.

Best of luck sir! I’m (45M) on the same timeline and goal as you are. So far, so good. Electrolytes are my best tool to date. My longest fast was 5 days but I’m going for 40, I believe that the hardest point is the initial 2 days, we shall see. Stay strong
