Do meds and supplements break the fast?

I know this has been asked a million times before, but without looking at EVERY search result, most answers don’t seem to be asking my particular question.

I’m brand new to IF, I started 18:6 less than a week ago. I dropped a couple of pounds the first 2 days, which I’m sure was water and the needle hasn’t moved since. I feel like I read here all the time about people losing a bunch in the first week or two and then settling down, so I’d expect to see some progress even just a few days in. Maybe I need to be patient, maybe I need to focus on fewer calories, rather than just trying to focus on only eating when I’m hungry during my eating window (eating for other reasons is my big downfall). But it just occurred to me tonight that maybe I’m breaking my fast with the meds and supplements.

My fast starts at 8 PM. My habit is to take several different meds and supplements at 10 pm. None have to be taken with food and none have anything to do with IF. Taking them all at 10 pm is convenient for me, but I could move all but one into my eating window, if it would help.

If it matters: B complex supplement, multivitamin, tart cherry extract capsules, melatonin and 2 prescriptions.

Hi I’m no expert, but even if it does break the fast, you’d still be doing 16:8 which seems like the most common pattern here (myself included).

It’s only been a week, but if you actually feel like you’re doing something wrong, maybe you could try tracking calories or food types and see if you can find any patterns.
