Does Cole Not Recommend "Fast and Feast" Anymore?

If you all have been watching his recent videos, he keeps talking of low calories (<400 kcal) snacks instead of a filling meal between fasts.

This honestly really throws me off. I thought it was important to eat a big satiating meal after a long fast (48-72h) in order to not mess up your hormone levels (mainly cortisol). He even talks about this in his older videos constantly.

Why is he switching this up?

Answer

It hasn’t been made super clear but I think it’s because Cole expects people to have common sense. If you are very obese, do longer fasts. You are fine.

If you are already pretty lean and find fasting difficult because your body doesn’t have those stores anymore, eating 400 cal snacks will keep the calorie count low enough to mimic fasting and help you cut/get shredded.

As for me, I’m still firmly in the “fatty” category. Longer fasts for me!

Answer

he made some good points with his new change in direction. I am an over eater, when I go on omad, me like a lot of other people eat a lot, when you eat a lot, it doesnt matter what you are eating it still raises your blood sugar. As he said, fasting isnt a diet, you can fast 300 days a year and still mess it up on the eating days. Fasting is bonus weight loss and he has found that he has gotten better results from the snackdiet. I have been doing this for a few weeks, i lost around 15 pounds, i am never hungry and since i’m not skipping meals really i have way more energy in the evening to go to the gym. I really love not having a giant meal anymore. I stick to the keto snacks but once every week or two i plan to have an ice cream or something around that 400 cal.

Answer

Give it a week man, it’ll change lol. It’s fine if he promoted different shit but it throws me off when he says one way is the best way to cut and next week is calling that plan trash. Now it’s small meals at a high frequency, and doesn’t care what the meal consists of but in the past says doing so is stupid because it’s “catabolic af” fast long eat big then > stop chasing big meals. Nice n fkn full. Ketosis is optimal > keto is trash > small frequent ketogenic meals. I pretty much watch Cole for the entertainment/comedy factor, “hey fatty, stop fkn eating fatty, nice n fkn full” at this point.

I’m pretty sure he is/might be missing the point that this new approach of his is for people to cut down from already low body fat percentage to one thats even lower. In one of his recent ones he mentioned cutting down from 12 percent to below 10. And for that this approach is definitely more optimal. He should emphasize this more so that there is less confusion

Answer

I saw that I think that is maybe a down the road thing maybe? I’m at the beginning of my journey so I’m rolling 72’s and alternating a small, keto meal and a fuller whole keto meal as breaks to the fasts. 30 lb so far in less than a month…with about 30 to go. I was taking that snack stuff as something for maintenance after goals were met.

Answer

What Cole promotes is not the same as what he’ll recommend…. He does like to switch his approach a lot, but at the end of the day he wants you to lose the fat and keep it off! If it works for you then do it!

His latest approach is multiple 400 cals meals a day, disregard macros (was promoting keto) and mix it up with prolonged fast.

Answer

Cole recommends you lose body fat period.

He will always update his approach and create new fasting based routines, because ultimately he wants the most number of results possible.

Don’t be thrown off, he wants you to lose weight. He’s always looking for the easiest method possible because people like to whine and complain, so now he has the keto snack diet so people can stop bitching and eat throughout the day while still losing body fat.

Just fast and lose the weight however best works for your body and lifestyle.

Answer

As time goes on and he learns more information he is going to change what he promotes. While “fast and feast” can be really effective for some, <400 cals might be more efficient for a larger group of people.
