Fasting and morning anxiety

So, I’ve been doing ADF since January - I like it, it feels intuitive and I think it gives me a lot of benefits. But I stopped for a while because I was waking up SUPER anxious on a morning, and I couldn’t cope with it - to be clear, it was about an hour before my alarm (so 5am), not accompanied by any anxious thoughts or anything like that, just pure physiological shakiness and jitters. It happens on both days where I’ve fasted, and days where I’ve eaten.

I’ve started ADF again properly recently after doing some OMAD and 18:6, but the anxiety has returned. I know it’s about cortisol, is there anything specific I can do or am I resigned to feeling anxious on a morning? I’m already getting enough sleep, relaxing at night, eating well on eating days, etc. Advice welcome!

Answer

When attempting fasting previously, I’d lose sleep and having a lot of racing thoughts and anxiety in bed. Salt worked for me. While fasting and getting several grams of salt in throughout the day I sleep better and more peacefully than I ever have before.
