Do any of you take a fat burner to supplement your diet and exercise? If so, which ones seem to work the best?
I drink coffee and occasionally take a home made pre-workout on days I feel I need it. Consisting of Creatine, Caffeine, L-Theanine, L-Citrululline Malate, Beta-Alanine and Taurine.
I don’t do specifically fat burner though but some of the compunds in that PW are considered ingredients in certain fat burners. Notably Caffeine and L-Theanine also known as green tea extract. I use it for the synergistic effect it has with Caffeine though, it takes the jitteryness off of higher doses of caffeine and leaves you with the alertness and ability to push your workout harder.
I have started Citrulline Malate - but that’s more for energy/endurance. We’ll see the results later. Caffeine is supposed to have some positive impacts. Beta Alanine is supposedly good for some HIIT work - but I don’t think it contributes to fat burning.
The other supplement that seems to be genuinely useful is creatine - but this is anabolic, so you’ll gain weight on it (water at first, muscle and water later). You’ll get stronger and more muscular on it, but you won’t lose weight (at least not at first). Being stronger will allow you to work harder over time.
I would be pretty dubious about other claims out there. Mostly there just isn’t good data to support it.
