Is it okay to drink Gatorade during fast?
Anything I should be carful for
Also I take pills that I’m supposed to have a meal with if I don’t eat with them I usually feel pretty sick is there any way around this
If you are new to this as your post suggests, I would not recommend starting out with a 48 hour right off the bat. Fasting is a skill, and like any other skill it requires practice to grow your proficiency.
Your beverage choice falls under the whole “clean fasting vs dirty fasting” debate. Use the search bar and you will read copious amounts on the topic. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference. My own preference is no calories. I don’t care about artificial sweeteners. Other people disagree, and this is all good too.
Ask your doctor.
You can do a 48 hour fast - it’s all mental will.
As for your questions: unless your gatorade is Gatorade zero you’re technically not fasting because of the calories/body’s response to calories.
As for the pills - recommend chugging water prior to taking so that you dont feel so empty stomached and recommend evaluating whether you truly NEED them or if u just want them
Megan Ramos has a podcast The Fasting Method and they talk about soaking chia seeds in water and take medicine with that. Its not exactly clean fasting but will enable you to take the meds.Give it a listen, I learned so much from it!
I take meds and quite like fat fasting. If I water fast especially for more than a couple days my gut really struggles. A cup of coffee with heavy cream, a shot of live pickle brine and/or a serving of sauerkraut, and a cup of bone broth each about once a day keeps my calories low, carbs nearly non-existent, and my guts still working enough to not totally freak out or shut down. Taking the pills along with one of these seems to help but I tend to do fine even if I just take them with lots of water. I probably don’t get much autophagy but it still does wonders for my insulin resistance. I suspect if I could drink water as well when not fasting I would feel a lot better when not fasting, so the hydration boost really improves the way I feel.
Lots and lots of water.
Tracking intakes, hours, and taking ketone and glucose readings are motivating for me.
Planning activities, especially ones like gardening, art, or pottery that keep my hands dirty.
Respect your body and stop when it seems unreasonably hard. Severe diarrhea? Bad headache? Dizzy? Super exhausted? Generally miserable? Have a glass of water, if you aren’t fine in 30 minutes, stop. You can always start again tomorrow.
Don’t compare. You are the only person with your body.
