Help a girl out & share any tips of your 48h fasting experiences, I’d love to hear how it went for different people…I’ve never tried it, and want to give it a shot this weekend :)
Just remind yourself that hunger is a wave. It will build up and then disappear. If you know hunger will disappear in an hour or two you will have a better chance of lasting through the 48 hours.
You’ll have the peace of mind that your body fed itself through your fat storage and not external food taken in. Which ultimately leads to fat loss.
If you feel hungry, drink water. D R I N K W A T E R. Drink water often. Keep a case of water in your room. Drink plenty water. I sound like a broken record, but I’ve done a few extended fasts to break my plateaus, and I was downing water left and right to stay on track.
I have just completed 88 hours and am contemplating breaking my fast tonight and picking it up again next week. I had planned on another day but I like to stay flexible and listen to my body. I have done multiple fasts and they are easier now. I am generally low carb so if you eat lots of carbs you may want to start off low carb or even keto first.
It is good to be prepared with an electrolyte drink that you like, I do Ultima in various flavors with sparkling water. I use extra Ultima to make a stronger flavored drink so it feels like a meal. My back ups are chicken and beef broth if I feel nauseous. I have not had to use them lately but I used to add a pat of butter, lemon, greens so it is technically breaking the fast but it worked.
If I feel hungry, I go for a walk. My theory is that moderate exercises gets more fat flowing leading to reduction in hunger. I have no idea if that is true but it works. I also make sure to get plenty of rest and be prepared with books or movies or hobbies to occupy my down time.
I recommend Jason Fung’s book on fasting. It really helps keep the proper mindset. Also, unless you have supportive family and friends, I would not tell anyone until after if even then.
Good luck, it may be easier than you think! :)
