First attempt at fasting caved at 48 hours but would to go extend next time

So I’ve just attempted my first water fast , only consuming water and black tea , I was aiming for a minimum of 72 hours to hit the apparent immune system reset but cracked at 48 hours!

How can I properly prepare for hitting a 72+ hour fast

Answer

Make sure you have a plan for your electrolytes. Have some stuff to do with your extra down time. Once I get past that 48hr hump, my hunger goes away and I am incredibly clear minded.

Staying focused on the benefits of reaching you goal will help too.

I’ve done a lot of 36-72h fasts, and I have discovered that the worst thing I can do is go from normalt eating schedule to a 36 hour fast or longer.Just because I get hungry, cranky and my motivation and determination gets cracked.

I have however discovered if I start with 12:12, then 14:10 and so on makes it easier until I’m at 20:4. Then I jump at a 36 and do some adf, and from there it is easy to slip into longer fasts.I know it takes time, but it is the way that makes me continue. So don’t be scared to do some 36-48 hour fasts to get used before jumping for 72.Ive done one 72 and I can’t really say I ever will do it again. I hated it and I feel more sustainable doing two 62 hours.

But I am cheering for you! It’s okay to break, and it’s okay to try again!
