Heart rate elevation after 48 hours and mild headache ... Effect of electrolytes and stevia

My resting hear rate is around 58. After 36 hours of fasting … No change to heart rate. After 48 hours my resting heart rate elevated to 68 and not feeling great with a mild headache. Same experience several times when fasting.

Today I had an electrolyte supplement with stevia. Within 20 minutes my heart rate was back to normal and feeling a bit better.

Any thoughts on this? Next time planning to test just electrolytes without the stevia to see what happens.

Answer

Stevia creates an insulin response which is the opposite of what your trying to achieve with fasting also your symptoms sound more like dehydration to me definitely supplement your water intake with electrolytes

Answer

Experimented a bit more with this. The electrolytes don’t really work with me because they give me diarrhoea. I tried also low sodium salt, works in terms of making me feel better, but when I had too much also had diarrhoea.

I think part of the issue could be dehydration. However I think even a little bit of salt seemed to make me feel better and lowered my heart rate. Just a very small amount under my tongue. Going to experiment some more the next time I’m fasting.

It’s just amazing to see the dramatic difference in my resting heart rate in a short period of time going from 80bpm to 60bpm after a bit of salt the next time I tried this!
