How do I not get sick again when fasting?

The day before yesterday I started a 38h liquid fast and finished it today at 10AM. Yesterday the whole day I felt great, was very energetic and not even hungry. This morning, however, I suddenly got very sick and felt like I would puke, but nothing came out because my stomach was empty, I just coughed into the sink repeatedly. I am very emetophobic, so this experience was hellish. Also, I feel nauseous today after every time I eat, which sucks. I wanna start a 68h liquid fast tomorrow. Do you have any tips on how to not let this happen again?

P.S.: I didn’t drink anything in the morning, could it be this?

Answer

Going for a 68h new fast is not the wisest choice after feeling like crap during a fast about half the length.I suggest that you start slow with OMAD, which will result in 23h fasts if you have your meal at around the same time every day, then evaluate from there. Depending on your diet, that alone will be enough for you to notice a difference over time: time-restricted feeding means no more guilty snacking late in the evening, no more sugary foods on breakfast, no more entire afternoons drinking tons of alchool, etc., which helps not only with weight loss but boosts well-being overall.

If you feel that bad today, I would strongly suggest taking a break for a few days before you embark on another fast. Atleast wait till you feel better and start small. You don’t want to have such a miserable experience that it turns you off fasting forever. Also, what do you mean liquid fast? Are you having juices and stuff? Or just water?
