How does everyone use nutrition tracking apps?

I’m working on building a nutrition tracking app, and would love to hear how people use other apps like MyFitnessPal, Lose It, etc.

Do you just use the app to track calories/macros so you can stay under under a certain threshold that you’ve defined yourself? Or do you use any of the extra coaching features, e.g. letting the app recommend how much you should eat?

Just generally curious how most people use these so I can make sure the common use-cases are supported. Thank you!

Answer

As someone who is very active and weight trains 4-5x a week - I use it to show me my macros, calorie intake, and micronutrients. I try and see if I’ve had enough fiber, potassium, etc. in the day. I use it as a guide to see what kind of nutrients my body hadn’t had enough of yet in a day, to ensure that I eat what I’m missing!
