How long after a concussion do you think it's ok to start IF again? My doctor had no idea really.

I got a big concussion two weeks ago, and am still feeling the effects, brain fog, slow reactions, etc. I went to the doctor and asked how soon I could return to 19:5 intermittent fasting, and he was not much help. He shrugged a little and said “Take it easy.” I could see this was nonverbal code for “I don’t really know but let’s be cautious”.

You could start with 16:8 which isn’t very extreme and see how you feel. Keep a diary to record how you feel so that you can look back on it objectively. If you can record stuff like your blood pressure, that would be good too. If you’re taking medication, you will need to rake that into account as well.

The alternative is to not fast but count calories/macros to maintain any gains until the doctor gives you the go ahead.

Interesting post. I’m not a Doctor, so don’t take this advice for anything reliable. But, they say fasting/IF allows your body to heal quicker. However, in this case I would make sure the symptoms have reduced back to normal, as this could be a case where inflammation is beneficial to the recovery (eg. like muscles after lifting weights). 14/10 might be a good place to start as you start feeling better.
