I’ve heard that it isn’t sustainable fasting everyday and that actually fasting 3-4 days a week is better? Doing 18 hour intermittent fasts.
It’s very sustainable but on this forum people practice extreme forms. That’s why it’s not sustainable for them. But a 16-8 window is definitely what normal people used to do generations ago as regular living – not diet. You can even have 3 meals a day. But hey, if people want to be extreme about it, you can’t tell them anything. They wont listen.
Definitely sustainable. With the exception of when I had COVID and took a break (which was absolutely the right thing to do) I’ve been doing 16-18 hour fasts daily since last September, with the occasional longer one thrown in for good measure. No problems here, beyond the occasional plateau in weight loss (which just required me to rethink my diet and adjust accordingly). M49, eating 1500-1900 kcal each day and trying to keep under 10% carbs, very light exercise, CW 92.4kg, lost 17.1kg to date. Feeling great.
I have been on IF since October 2021 so not that long. I have no plans on changing. I do change for 18-6, 20-4, and OMAD depending on my work schedule. I also don’t worry much if I end up with a cheat day as long as it’s not too often.
Day 62 and I’ve found daily IF to be sustainable thus far. The benefits of fasting far outweigh the “joy” I used to find with eating whenever I wanted to. I only find myself struggling if I don’t consume enough calories in my window.
