I’m wanting to do omad with some 48 hour fasts thrown in. How quickly is it realistic to lose weight? I am active but not necessarily exercising every day. I also sit in my sauna a few nights a week. Any thoughts?
It’s all going to depend on your gender, age, starting weight, and level of activity.
I can tell you that I am a man in my late 30s. I started IF about a year ago at a weight of 330 lbs. Today, I’m down to 240. So that’s 90 lbs in a year. It took me probably around 3-4 months to lose the first 30 lbs. And that was with consistent, 7-days-a-week IF and at least 4-5x per week light/moderate exercise for at least 30 min a day.
I had 30 pounds to lose. I’ve been doing ADF since January 1 and have successfully lost 20 of those 30 pounds. I ADF MWF and eat 2x on my eating days. On the weekend I will drink a bit of wine but still keep to eating 2x/day. Looking forward to April when I reach my goal!
3 months, 18 days, and 12 hours 😉🤣. So many variables here there is no real answer. Fasting will help tremendously, BUT a lot of this depends where you are starting from metabolically. If you are a carb eater, progress could be slower. If you have insulin resistance, progress could be slower. My recommendation would be to couple Keto and the fasting to get more expeditious progress. Also, step up the activity and at least go for a 30-45min walk every day. What are your expectations for timing??
What are your stats? Plus define active. Last time I lost that amount it took 3.5 months vs the 7 months it took me to lose it this time. The difference this time is that I’m fighting antidepressants and substance abuse and was up against food security in the beginning. YMMV.
Lose 1.5lbs per week via slight calorie deficit and increase activity until you reach 10lbs loss. Take a break from the diet for a few weeks then repeat 2 more times. Throw in a fast on non training days or do 16/8
Weight loss doesn’t work that way. You can’t calculate how much you’re going to lose on a diet. Even if we knew your height, weight, age, gender, and activity level weight loss is not that predictable.
The better approach would be to select a fasting method (I.e. OMAD, TRE, or ADF) and then give yourself 30 days of strict compliance. At the end of the 30 days see if it’s working or you need to adjust.
