I ate a lot of ice cream after dinner and messed up my calories big time and I feel mentally like shit. I’ve been fasting for 3 weeks and have no weight loss and now I did this…

Answer

Yep! I’ve been doing OMAD consistently for the past 2 weeks and was doing great… until today. I went to McDonald’s and had a whole ass mcflurry to myself.

It was delicious. We totally suck, OP. Let’s wallow today and start up again tomorrow. ❤ Much love!

As a beginner, if you’re counting calories AND also sticking to a strict window—you’re doing it wrong. Start with the strict window and eat WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT within it. If you do this you’ll definitely be reducing your calories, therefore moving in the right dietary direction. Then, once you get used to your famine/feast split, you can start curating your meals to be more healthy and in-line with your weight less goals. In conclusion, trying to do too many things at once is a recipe for failure. You need to take baby steps that in the long term add up to giant leaps.

Answer

Tbh, setting extremely high standards just means you risk setting yourself up for failure, even if you aren’t failing - you don’t have to fast everyday to see benefits. Some people start by fasting for some days in a week. Anyway point is, if you’re willing to let yourself fail occasionally without being hard on yourself (also known as flexibility) you’ll have a sustainable model where you aren’t feeling the need to beat yourself up constantly. You’re doing GREAT . Keep at it !

Answer

Intermittent fasting isn’t really about counting calories. It’s really two separate things. You didn’t mess up your IF by eating ice cream :-)Check out Dr. Jason Fung if you’re interested in going beyond the ‘calories in calories out’ theory.

Answer

I’ve been doing IF for a few years now and hey sometimes I “cheat”. Out with friends or had an extremely stressful day or didn’t get a chance to eat in my window. It’s okay, you can keep going. The only person who is counting is you. Be your own friend and take everyone’s advice, there is always tomorrow. This is a journey and a lifestyle not a race or a competition. I believe in you OP.

Answer

Commit to a longer fast - maybe do OMAD a day or two. You are taking this seriously. That’s great. Direct it in a positive direction! You’ll feel good about yourself, and it’ll help you achieve your goals!

Answer

Same.I didn’t eat ice cream but got into pasta. I was getting into some serious shame and guilt, bu then I realized that’s part of what got me in trouble in the first place. So I took a deep breath and I decided I’d start over.

Answer

Ice cream = Fat It takes our body more energy to digest fat as compared to protein and carbs. If you had ice cream and then you slept - You actually don’t have to worry about a single thing. Our body usually rests and digests everything! By resting after a meal - I’d say that by eating that ice cream you burned off everything you ate and had a great sleep as well.. :)

There’s a doctor in India Dr. Bhavsar who has his own book called “Space Time Motion” - he asks his patients of weight loss to eat 1 small scoop of ice cream as soon as you finish dinner (like on the same plate) to achieve great results. He also talks about importance of direction and breathing techniques during exercise.

Answer

It’s OK and just 1-day!! That’s the beauty of IF - as a lifestyle change it’s just one day of so many. In fact cheat days are a total thing. It’s OK you had a cheat day. Move forward and onward! Look at the long game of reclaiming your health.

Answer

Treating yourself once in a while is fine. You did nothing wrong. I had a slice of cake with lunch yesterday and some really tasty kettle corn after dinner. I don’t and won’t do it ever day, but once in a while is fine.

If you restrict things you enjoy from your diet you will fail. Just be smart about what you and stick to your eating/fasting windows.

For weight loss try using an app to track calories in and calories out. That’s honestly the only real secret to weight loss.

Answer

I wish more people were more forgiving of themselves. I’m giving myself 18 months to hit my personal goals so an occasional diversion can be dealt with time.

We all get hungry and fall off the wagon occasionally.

Get back at it OP. Go slowly, don’t punish yourself.

Answer

You’ll be ok! I actually have a cheat day once a week. It helps me feel like I have control of something and it helps me keep cravings down.

If you’re currently struggling with self control because of over eating maybe try keeping a pint of icecream at a time instead of a whole tub.

Walmart sells a low calorie icecream called Halo top. One pint has roughly 300 calories give or take a little more less depending on the flavor. But they’re pretty good and they help me stay within my daily calorie intake without going over board or feeling guilty.

IF isn’t hard when you get use to it. Alot of people do IF without realizing it especially the 16/8 one. But don’t give up because you had a bad day. You’ll get there. Start slow if you need to and listen to your body. Learn self control methods and again DONT give up. Don’t beat your self up about it.

My weight goal is to lose 1 or 2 lbs a week. This week I didn’t lose any weight. I was discouraged but I’m not going to stop. You’ll see results before you know it. Put the scale away for awhile and get the hang of learning your body.

You’ve got this!
