IF for muscle gain ?

Hi guys as a naturally skinny fat guy i really don’t want to lose any muscle that’s taken me years to build lol.

Im 6ft about 87kg with decent muscle for me anyway. I would like to carry on building as much muscle as possible. But would like to lose a bit of fat as well hence the thought of doing intermittent fasting.

I know it’s mainly about calories in and out but after hearing the YouTuber Greg Doucette say that by doing IF you’re missing one of the 5 opportunities of protein synthesis I’m unsure whether it’s worth doing?

Thanks for any advice

Dr. Fung has some data showing HGH levels peak at 18 hours into a fast. HGH will help you retain or grow some muscle while you’re following a fasting protocol.

Coach Greg is right, you’re gonna be missing out on maximizing your muscle protein synthesis. You’ll still gain so long as your protein and training are right, but it’ll be slower than someone not fasting. Islosing some weight worth slowing down your muscle gains? That’s the question you have to answer.

Answer

From my experience, building muscle through weigtlifting can decrease fat and increase muscle. Your clothes will fit differently but you may actually gain weight as you increase muscle mass. My experience is based on increased calorie intake without IM.
