I’m 14 and looks to fast for 7 days

I was planning on fasting for seven days while working out everyday for about and hour. I need to get in better shape. Is it okay for a 14 year old to fast?

This is a good question! There’s no research to my knowledge on youthful fasting and I don’t generally think it would be wise to do while you’re still developing although I can’t show you anything that confirms these suspicions.

However, there are other options. For one, if you stick to working out an hour a day, you’re going to see dramatic changes especially if you throw a solid diet in there. I’ll bet that you could even play around with intermittent fasting like 16:8 or even 20:4.

I would start with intermittent fasting! Honestly I considered doing an extended water fast when I was 14 too (I’m 19 now) but decided against it due to the potential negative physical and neurological affects it could have before you hit 17/18. My whole family is in medicine and they all do a lot of research on fasting and diet, so I feel like I was pretty well informed when I made that decision and am happy with what I did instead:)

If you can, focus on cutting out sugar and junk food and try to start intermittent fasting to begin! It gets waaayy easier the longer you do it, and when ur ready to do an extended fast it will be easier without the intense cravings for the processed stuff!! Good luck:)
