Is drinking this hurting me?

I found this bottle of egg whites in the supermarket and decide to brought it because the amount of protein on it. It says that it must be consumed in 72 hours so I’m drinking like 0.3 litres per day. It’s cheap and help me to get all the protein I can’t always consume through the day. It also says the egg whites are pausteraized so I guess there’s no problem with drinking it but I use the blender before consuming it anyway. Does someone know if this can hurt me?

If they are pasteurized then it’s safe to drink (i.e. it won’t make you sick). But doing so regularly can keep you from absorbing biotin, and a biotin deficiency can lead to all sorts of problems.

Studies also show that your body only absorbs about half as much protein from raw egg whites as it does from cooked egg whites. When you do that math, consuming them raw isn’t really worth it.

If you’re looking for a high protein addition to your smoothie, try 0% fat Greek yogurt, or protein powder.

Edited to add I also put frozen peas in my smoothies. About half a cup per liter of liquid. You can’t taste ‘em.
