Kroger Carbmaster hamburger buns too good to be true?

I’m talking about these

They’re 50 calories per bun, with 12g of protein. That’s a higher calorie to gram of protein ratio than even most whey protein powders and even higher than things like skinless chicken breast.

Seems to good to be true. Is this a labeling issue?

Answer

If you check out the actual nutrition facts label, it says 100 calories. I think the packaging is misleading as the 50 kcal/bun is essentially discounting the fiber content.

Edit: I just looked at your pic–which I do think is a labeling issues. Check out the label in the Kroger link you have posted.

Answer

Just from adding up the macros it seems sus
4g fat x 9kcal = 36kcal
Assuming all the fiber is insoluble…
4g carbs x 4kcal = 16kcal
12g protein x 4kcal = 48kcal
summed up that would be 100 cals

Answer

I use Carbmaster tortillas, buns, bread, and yoghurt regularly. I don’t particularly watch carbs, I just focus on protein intake and calorie deficit. They’re also the same price as regular bread at my Kroger so it’s a win-win for me.
