Lifting question

If I lift at 11 am but break my fast at 5 pm what effect does that have?

Goals is fat loss more than muscle gain. I already have a lot of muscle that I am happy with.

Thanks!

Answer

My understanding is minimal. From what I’ve seen the most recent looks into this conclude that overall nutrition matters more than timing. I find that I’m a little less energetic fasted, but that’s what fits my schedule best and a consistent routine is more important to me than getting every last % of efficiency. I’m still trying to lose as well, so any muscle I gain or maintain is a bonus.

Answer

That is fairly far away from the metabolic spike that lifting will cause. You may lose muscle eating so far away from lift time. Just move your eating window into the lift time or vice versa to maintain muscle, etc.
