Macros of canned salmon

The macros on this canned salmon are amazing, I was under the impression that salmon was a fattier fish so it had more calories to protein ratio, do you think this label is lying or is it really that good? the can of salmon I’m looking at has a serving size of 62g drained, 45 calories, 9.1g of protein, 0.8g of fat, and <0.5g carbs.

Answer

Some of the fat found in fresh salmon is lost in processing, meaning canned salmon has only two-thirds the calories of the same amount of the cooked fresh fish.

So basically canned salmon < fresh salmon. But canned salmon > no salmon at all.

Answer

If you’re in the US, I don’t think food labels can just lie about nutrition facts. There are laws about that. Unless you’re buying some back alley salmon from a random person instead of a grocery store.
